Rapid identification method for the plant-pathogenic bacterium-Erwinia chrysanthemi/APHIA

Erwinia chrysanthemi (syn. Pectobacterium chrysanthemi) is a plant-pathogenic bacterium responsible for soft rot diseases in a wide range of plant species. The pathogen infects storage organs and succulent leaves of vegetables, field crops, and ornamental plants. Because of a heavy plant loss caused by E. chrysanthemi, detection of E. chrysanthemi in diseased plants and water is important for the disease control. A detection test paper for Erwinia chrysanthemi (Ech1-paper) is successfully developed by FJCU (Fu-Jen Catholic University, Taiwan). The Ech1-paper can detect E. chrysanthemi not only in diseased plants but also in water.
