Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) Diagnostic Reagent for the Non-Structural Protein Antibody Detection to Foot-and-Mouth Disease Virus/VRI
|
Sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) based assays can be used to detect antibodies to non-structural proteins of FMD virus O serotype. We have used the prokaryotic expression system for producing non-structural proteins and set up a sandwich ELISA to detect antibodies to the non-structural proteins. After testing 770 sera samples, our results have revealed that the specificity and sensitivity of our ELISA could be up to 100 % and 98.4 %, respectively. Moreover, by comparing to the tested result, we have found out that the diagnostic sensitivity of our ELISA is higher than that of Escherichia coli commercial ELISA kit (35.5%). Moreover, it can also detect antibodies to non-structural proteins of serotypes A, C, Asia 1, SAT 1, SAT 2, and SAT 3 in bovine sera. Furthermore, the absence of cross-reactions generated by different antibody titers against swine vesicular disease virus also highlighted the assay’s specificity. |
